A survey conducted with 2,000 adult travellers revealed that seven out of ten individuals prioritize their well-being when they are abroad. Activities such as walking (61%), reading a book (50%), and exercising (33%) are popular among holidaymakers. Furthermore, 50% of respondents view their trip as an opportunity to start a new self-care routine, while 24% maintain their existing healthy habits while away from home.
When given a choice, 37% of travellers would opt for fitness activities over enjoying a cocktail, and 31% would forgo relaxation on a sunbed in favor of staying active. Hilton, in collaboration with Peloton, has expanded its partnership to offer Peloton bikes at hotels across the UK, Germany, Puerto Rico, and participating properties in Canada. This initiative aims to provide an enhanced wellness experience for guests, allowing them to maintain or establish their fitness routines even while travelling.
Amanda Al-Masri, Vice President of Wellness at Hilton, emphasized the importance of wellness for travellers and how the expanded partnership with Peloton enables them to offer elevated wellness experiences aligned with guests’ routines and healthy habits.
The study also found that 30% of travellers always make a list of priorities beforehand to ensure their self-care routines are maintained while away. Additionally, 29% set aside specific time each day during their stay for wellness activities. While 28% focus on smaller habits, 25% establish boundaries to make mindful choices, and 22% create daily to-do lists. Being away from home allows 47% of travellers to allocate more time to focus on their mental and physical well-being.
When booking accommodation, exercise facilities are a top priority for 23% of respondents, and 37% like to engage in fitness activities at least once a day while travelling, averaging 49 minutes of exercise. Although 87% of those surveyed intend to maintain their healthy habits, 14% find it challenging to stick to them when away. For 74% of individuals, the main struggle is the disruption of their usual routine, while 31% attribute difficulties to the lack of equipment while travelling.
Daniel Sprung, Senior Director International, Partnerships, and Commercial at Peloton, expressed their commitment to innovation and meeting the needs of members and prospective members. The collaboration with Hilton to expand access to Peloton Bikes and extensive content is a natural progression in this pursuit.
