Jets cornerback Qwan’tez Stiggers was taken off the practice field on a stretcher Tuesday, but it looks like he is going to be okay. The team announced that Stiggers has been released from the hospital and is home recovering.
Stiggers spent only a few hours in the hospital after passing out on the sideline during practice. It is not clear what caused him to pass out, and there has been no update on when he might return to practice.
Stiggers, 24, is heading into his third season with the Jets. He has an easy story to root for, having never played college football on his way to the NFL. He went from high school football to the Fan Controlled Football league, then signed with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. In 2023, Stiggers was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Rookie, and the Jets drafted him in 2024. That made him the first player in 25 years to be drafted by the NFL after playing in the CFL.
Last year, Stiggers played in 15 games for the Jets. He started four games on defense and was a big contributor on special teams.
