Leeds United have announced the signing of Swiss international Nico Elvedi on a permanent deal from Borussia Mönchengladbach.
The defender is the club's fourth new addition of the summer window and brings a wealth of experience to Daniel Farke's squad.
Elvedi came through the youth ranks of hometown club FC Zürich and made his senior debut in a 2014 meeting with Lausanne-Sport. After 26 appearances for the club, Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach signed the teenager before the 2015/16 season.
In his first season at Borussia-Park, he featured 21 times in the German top flight and made two appearances in the UEFA Champions League.
He went on to spend more than a decade at the North Rhine-Westphalia club, making 364 appearances and scoring 19 goals while helping the team qualify for European competition on several occasions.
Elvedi will now reunite with Farke, having worked under him at Gladbach in the 2022/23 season. That campaign saw him make 34 appearances in all competitions and score three goals, including one in a 3-1 opening day victory over Hoffenheim.
His 318 Bundesliga appearances put him eighth on Gladbach's all-time top flight appearance list, and the most for any non-German player at the club.
The 29-year-old has also built an impressive international career. He made his Switzerland debut against Belgium in 2016 aged 19, was part of the squad for Euro 2016, and has since travelled to every major tournament with his country, earning 73 caps.
At this summer's FIFA World Cup, Elvedi played every single minute as Switzerland topped Group B and reached the quarter-finals in North America. That was their joint-best result in the competition and the first time they had reached the last eight since 1954.
