MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women's soccer team has added Trent Frederick to its staff as an assistant coach. Frederick joins MTSU after three seasons as an assistant coach with NCAA Division II University of Tampa's women's soccer program. Before Tampa, he spent four years in the Sunshine State Conference in various women's soccer assistant coach roles, including one spring season at Saint Leo University and the previous fall season at Florida Southern College.
Frederick began his college coaching career at Eckerd College, where he was an assistant for two and a half seasons. "I am excited to add Trent to our staff. He brings a wealth of experience in recruiting, video analysis and team training, MTSU head coach Aston Rhoden said. His knowledge and experience will be an asset to our program."
Throughout his roles, Frederick has handled on-field coaching and player development, opposition scouting, recruiting and film analysis. At Tampa, he helped lead the Spartans to 15 wins and a return to the Sunshine State Conference Championship in 2025 for the first time since 2022. He also handled domestic and international recruiting, expanding UT's footprint across the globe.
Before spending the spring of 2023 with Saint Leo, Frederick won the Sunshine State Conference regular-season championship in the fall of 2022 with Florida Southern, posting a 13-2-4 record. The Mocs advanced to the second round of the NCAA II South Region Tournament for the fourth time in program history under Frederick and the staff. He also produced both the SSC Defensive Player, Morgan Collica, and Freshman of the Year, Angelina Coelho.
Frederick began his college soccer coaching career with two and a half seasons at Eckerd College, where he helped the Tritons win 11 games while navigating the COVID-19 pandemic. Outside college soccer, he spent 20 years in various roles at the club level, most recently as a college advisory director and staff coach at Orlando City Soccer School before joining Tampa in 2023. Prior to Orlando City, Frederick served as assistant director of coaching and college advisory director for Florida Rush for 10 years, along with serving on the Rush National Select & Regional Select coaching staffs. He was also a member of the Rush National Coach Mentor/Mentee program.
Frederick began his coaching career at Kansas Wesleyan University, where he served as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's programs from March 2004 through February 2007. While at KWU, the programs won four regular-season Conference Championships, three Conference Tournament Championships, and earned two NAIA Regional bids. Frederick helped coach 27 All-Conference players, three Conference Player of the Year, and four All-Americans during his time at Kansas Wesleyan.
On the playing field, Frederick competed at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kan., where he was a four-year letterwinner and three-year team captain. He graduated in May 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation with a concentration in athletic training. The Winter Park, Fla. native owns his United States Soccer Federation Coaching License and Football Association of England Level 1 Certification for Talent Identification.
