Tennessee Titans wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson took a hard hit from Chicago Bears safety Xavier Woods during Thursday's joint practice, leading to an evaluation for a concussion. (Editor's update: NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Friday that Robinson is not believed to have suffered a concussion, though the team will continue to monitor the receiver.)
A scuffle broke out after Woods, who played for the Titans last season, delivered the big hit on Robinson following a catch over the middle. Tennessee players and coaches were unhappy with the play.
"It was cheap," first-year Titans head coach Robert Saleh said, via ESPN's Turron Davenport.
Immediately after the play, Tennessee offensive linemen Austin Schlottmann and Peter Skoronski confronted Woods, and a melee broke out.
"That's Teach Tape 101 in terms of what not to do in a thud practice and a thud period," Skoronski said after practice. "You can't have guys like Wan'Dale going down like that, and hits like that aren't necessary. I get (that) we're being competitive. I get (that) DBs are physical and stuff like that, but that's totally uncalled for in a practice thing like this. We defend our teammates, man. I don't encourage throwing punches or fighting or anything like that, but if cheap shots are taken on our guys, it's unacceptable for us."
Robinson, who signed a four-year, $70 million contract this offseason, walked off under his own power to be checked for a concussion. The Titans open their 2026 campaign on Sept. 13 against the New York Jets.
