Football teams often develop a family-like bond over a season. Sometimes that bond is literal.
On Monday, the Denver Broncos announced their initial 17-player practice squad. Wide receiver Dane Key made the cut and was signed back to Denver, the team he spent the preseason with. Dane is the younger brother of 2026 NFL All-Pro special teams ace Devon Key, who also plays safety. This is the first time the brothers have been on the same team.
"Now I get the chance to be on the same team as my big brother on the biggest stage and all my emotions came out at once," Dane told the Denver Gazette's Chris Tomasson after the Broncos signed him as an undrafted free agent back in April. "I wanted to be on the same team as my brother."
Dane played in the preseason, catching three passes in three games for 52 yards. Two of those receptions went for 25 yards each.
