Manchester United have confirmed that young forward Gabriele Biancheri has left the club permanently to join Austrian side FC Wacker Innsbruck. The deal was completed after the English transfer window had closed, but Austria's window remains open until Thursday evening, which allowed the move to go through.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Biancheri has officially joined the Austrian second-tier club. The English transfer market shut at 11pm on Tuesday, but Manchester United can still sanction exits to countries where the window is open. Austria's deadline ends on Thursday, making this permanent transfer possible.
Biancheri originally joined Manchester United from Cardiff City in 2023 but never made a first-team appearance under manager Michael Carrick. The striker spent the second half of last season on loan at Rotherham United, featuring 11 times.
Biancheri is not the only player to leave after the English deadline. Earlier on Thursday, the club also allowed Chido Obi to move on a temporary basis. Obi completed a season-long loan to Willem II in the Netherlands in search of regular first-team football. Manchester United focused on outgoings in recent days and opted against bringing in any new players on deadline day. The club had a quiet end to the window despite pursuing Leicester City defender Louis Page before time ran out.
Earlier in the summer, Manchester United were active in strengthening the squad for Carrick. The midfield was identified as a priority, leading to the arrivals of Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, and Carlos Baleba. Goalkeeper Karl Darlow also moved to Old Trafford to add depth. These additions are expected to help Manchester United build momentum in the Premier League. The team secured their first win of the campaign with a dominant 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town last weekend.
With the transfer window closed, Manchester United will look to build on that success.
