Tottenham forward Mykhailo Mudryk could be out for up to two months after injuring his ankle in training.
Mudryk, who joined on loan from Chelsea on transfer deadline day last week, made his Spurs debut as a second-half substitute in the goalless draw at Nottingham Forest at the weekend.
The 25-year-old had hoped for more minutes against Everton on Saturday, but Standard Sport understands he will not be involved in the match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
In fact, Mudryk is expected to be sidelined until after the international break because of the ankle injury.
There are fears the winger could miss between six and eight weeks of action, which would be a major blow to his hopes of making an immediate impact.
If those reports are accurate, the worst-case scenario would see Mudryk out until the beginning of November at the earliest.
Spurs will play six times during that period, with the possibility of an additional fixture if they beat Liverpool and progress in the Carabao Cup.
Tottenham face Everton, Liverpool and Aston Villa before the international break, then return to action against Manchester United at Old Trafford on October 10.
Fixtures against Coventry and Crystal Palace will round out October for Spurs, with a London derby away at Chelsea in between. However, Murdyk cannot feature against his parent club under Premier League rules.
If Mudryk is ruled out for eight weeks, he would miss six matches, potentially seven, including big games against Liverpool, Villa and Manchester United.
The best-case scenario would be that Roberto De Zerbi has Mudryk available for the home game against Crystal Palace on October 31.
