Roberto De Zerbi has said he does not know whether Richarlison will leave Tottenham.
The Brazilian forward has failed to secure a move away from Spurs despite telling the club he wanted to leave late last month. He is reportedly considering legal action to try to terminate his contract, with Tottenham said to be unwilling to allow a loan to Brazilian side Vasco da Gama. A temporary return to Brazil is Richarlison's preferred option as it would let him regain match fitness before reassessing in January.
Tottenham would prefer a permanent sale but have not received any formal offers. Time is running out, as the Brazilian transfer window closes on Friday night and Spurs are no closer to an agreement.
Richarlison will not be with the team on Saturday when Spurs face Everton in the Premier League, having been left out of De Zerbi's 25-man squad last week. A potential £35 million return to former club Everton collapsed last week when the two sides could not agree personal terms.
Asked for an update at his pre-Everton press conference on Friday, De Zerbi said: "I don't know (if Richarlison will leave). I don't know, it's not my job. All I can say is I know very well what the club have done for Richarlison, and Richarlison knows what he has done for the club."
If a move back to Brazil does not happen on Friday, Richarlison would stay at Spurs unless a solution is found to terminate his contract. Reports had suggested transfer windows in Saudi Arabia and Portugal could offer a way out, but the Saudi Pro League closed on Sunday evening and Portuguese clubs can now only register youth players, so Richarlison is running out of options.
