Richarlison has responded on social media after Roberto De Zerbi dashed his hopes of a recall at Tottenham.

The Brazilian is in limbo after a move to Vasco da Gama collapsed because he failed to agree personal terms. Similar issues occurred with Everton and Turkish club Trabzonspor.

As a result, Richarlison appears stuck at Spurs until the January transfer window, when his situation can be revisited. The forward faces up to four months without competitive senior football.

Richarlison was left out of Spurs' Premier League squad, so he cannot play in that competition. However, he is eligible for the Carabao Cup because it is an English Football League competition, not a Premier League match. Under EFL regulation 6.2, he is allowed to feature.

But De Zerbi has decided Richarlison will not be involved against Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday evening.

"Richarlison, you already know everything, nothing has changed for the Carabao Cup or Premier League. The situation is the same (he will not be involved)," De Zerbi said in the pre-match press conference on Monday.

The 29-year-old then took to X, formerly Twitter, and reacted to the decision by replying to a post with a crying face emoji.

"I said last press conference, I know what happened in the last 45 days. It's not right if I explain. It's not my behaviour," De Zerbi continued. "It is the relationship and the problem is with the player and the club. I spoke with him many times to convince him to stay and he didn't want to. I can't go [about] every day to pray for him to stay."
