Lewis Hamilton has used social media to deny reports that he asked for Ferrari staff to be replaced. The Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera claimed Hamilton had requested changes to trackside personnel and said his relationship with team boss Fred Vasseur had weakened. Vasseur was instrumental in Hamilton joining Ferrari.
On Thursday, Hamilton posted on Instagram to dismiss the rumours. He wrote: "I've seen some of the stories that have gone out and I want to clear it up here. I've never asked for anyone on my team to be replaced." He added: "Everyone I work with works hard every day, and their dedication is what moves us forward. I always try to empower and lift people to be the best versions of themselves or at least see the best in themselves. I may not always achieve that but it's my intention and that's what I'm here to do. We all work together and that will continue."
The denial follows a difficult period for Ferrari, which has not had a podium since Spa in July. That stretch peaked with a poor home race at Monza, where an exasperated Hamilton pleaded for Ferrari to work together to fix operational errors and poor execution. He later effectively conceded the title in Madrid as he fell more than 100 points behind points leader Kimi Antonelli, having retired with a brake issue.
