Bukayo Saka has described Arsenal teammate Max Dowman as an "insane" talent and challenged the 16-year-old to make the most of his potential. Dowman continues to impress for the Gunners and will turn 17 on New Year's Eve.
The England Under-19 international scored twice in Arsenal's 4-2 Carabao Cup win over Ipswich Town, with his first goal coming from a jinking run and powerful finish. Last season he became the Premier League's youngest-ever scorer when he netted against Everton at the Emirates Stadium. He also holds the record as the youngest Champions League player ever, aged 15, along with being Arsenal's youngest-ever starter and the youngest-ever Premier League title winner.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live on Wednesday, ahead of England's four Nations League matches against Spain, Czechia and Croatia over the next three weeks, Saka was asked about Dowman's progress. "His talent is insane," Saka said. "It's up to him how far he's going to go in football. That's what I would say. But, yes, his talent, it's crazy."
Saka was also asked whether England are getting closer to a first trophy since 1966. He replied: "Yes. I think how far we're going in the tournaments [explains why]. Obviously, we know we have the quality, but I'm saying how far we go in the tournaments, how close we come. It's just that it says it in itself."
