The Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears closed out the 2026 NFL preseason with victories.
The Bears beat the Titans 24-15, snapping Tennessee's seven-game preseason winning streak. Chicago jumped ahead early on two Tyson Bagent touchdown passes in the first half and never looked back. Bagent completed 16 of 17 attempts with two scores, and Zavion Thomas hauled in a 97-yard touchdown reception while also making plays as a punt returner.
The Lions topped the Colts 25-16, racking up 356 yards of offense. Indianapolis had two bright spots: kicker Spencer Shrader connected on a 60-yard field goal, and cornerback Sauce Gardner intercepted Lions quarterback Luke Altmyer.
All 32 teams now have roughly 20 hours to trim their rosters from 90 players to 53. Some front offices got a head start this week, while others face one big, swift cut. Quarterback decisions will be a storyline, as teams weigh keeping two or three at the position. Players cut can be added to practice squads. Stay tuned for coverage of all the transactions.
The next on-field action is Sept. 9, when the Seahawks host the Patriots in a Super Bowl rematch to open the regular season. The Bears open against the Panthers in Week 1, and the Titans start against the Jets.
In the Bears-Titans game, the hosts finally reached the end zone in the fourth quarter on D'Ernest Johnson's 9-yard run. The two-point conversion failed when the Bears' pass rush sacked Hendon Hooker. Hooker keyed the 74-yard scoring drive with runs of 12 and 17 yards.
