The Adrian College men's soccer team won its third straight match with a 2-1 road victory over The College of Wooster on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs came from behind to improve to 3-2 on the season.
Adrian goalkeeper Eli Sizemore faced early pressure, making three saves in the first 22 minutes. Wooster scored in the 23rd minute to take a 1-0 lead.
The Bulldogs responded with three corner kicks over the next 13 minutes. Jack Pelton equalized in the 37th minute, his third goal in the last two matches, making it 1-1.
A minute later, Jacob Carbone nearly put Adrian ahead, but his shot was saved. The teams went to halftime tied, with Wooster holding a 12-8 edge in shots.
Adrian took the lead shortly after the break. Doudou Sambe had a shot in the 49th minute, and Nikolai Zacharko scored moments later to make it 2-1.
Wooster pushed for an equalizer, but Sizemore and the defense held firm. Sizemore made seven saves in the second half, including stops in the 80th, 83rd and 87th minutes. Wooster also hit the woodwork twice in the final 15 minutes.
Sizemore finished with 10 saves over 90 minutes. Pelton and Zacharko each had three shots, two on target and one goal. Adrian totaled 14 shots, six on goal, and a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Bulldogs return home to face Ohio Northern University on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Docking Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
