Sunderland began their Premier League campaign with a disappointing defeat in Suffolk. Here are Andy's player ratings.

The goalkeeper had little to do other than pick the ball out of the net. He was not particularly accurate with his long kicks, but was typically calm with the short passes.

A defender had a decent debut, keeping Maeda quiet and showing good reading of the game to cut out potential breaks. He also got forward constantly.

Another defender gave an all action display but never looked comfortable, on or off the ball.

One player generally played well, breaking the lines with passes and runs when space opened, but he made two similar errors. He let Enciso in for the opening goal with a lapse on the ball, then repeated it in the second half and had to drag his man down.

A player had his hands full with Fatuwu, who got the better of him a couple of times. He did well to win the ball high up and pick out Brobbey, though, which should have resulted in a goal.

A tidy but not eye-catching display in the middle of the park. He kept the ball ticking but his final balls from corners and crosses were quite poor.

Another player was up and down the pitch all game, helping out defensively and then bursting forward into the box. He had a great header well saved in the first half and made some great runs down the left before the break.

A player made a couple of the better chances, playing Brobbey through on goal very early in the game and then putting a cross onto Sadiki's head, but was relatively anonymous otherwise.

Enzo showed plenty of good today, with quick turns that left the opposition for dead and lovely through balls, notably for Angulo down the line and Brobbey into the box. He also turned into trouble a few times and could have had one or two more free kicks after being dragged down, but he went to the well one too many times.

A player brought the team level with a brilliant free kick that went in off the bottom of the crossbar. He caused problems down the left, getting in behind O'Shea, but his final ball wasn't there.

A player had two great chances, one at the start when he was one-on-one but dallied and allowed a block, and another when Reinildo picked him out on the six yard box, but he again took too long. He was not sharp enough.

A substitute didn't cause many problems after coming on, despite being against a centre back playing at full back.

Another substitute replaced O'Nien after his horror show and then tried to better it by passing to Ipswich for the winner.

A player came on for Brobbey but saw very little of the ball.

One substitute tried to be positive and looked to run down the right hand channel.

Another came on and saw a bit of the ball down the right.

Sadiki was easily the best player on the pitch in the first half, constantly winning the ball and putting himself about, then bursting forward down the left to put dangerous crosses in. He almost scored his first goal but had his header from Hume's cross well saved. He faded a bit as the game drew to a close but was still man of the match.
